StarBreak is the name for the world and also the name for the first 7000 years of recorded human history in it.

When referring to the time period, the abbreviation SB is used (such as '650 SB'). History starts at 1 SB, and goes on from there to 7000 SB, after which the count starts over at 1 AI (which stands for After Intervention). The year that much of the info for Skarn City was written is 1063 AI. Now, StarBreak has been advanced by 5 years, to 1068 AI, at the peak of the Second war in Renlar.

The word "StarBreak" refers to the first recorded histories of each nation. All records begin the same year with an entry that can be roughly translated to "the first time we saw the stars" (the StarBreak). Although there are fragmentary writings that predate the StarBreak, they have no mention of the sun, the moons, the stars, the seasons, the hours, or even years. There have been no calendars or other timekeeping peices unearthed. Archeologists, Historians, amd Philosophers have many (often contradictory) theories as to what these could signify.
