Page history last edited by Butcher Jackson 17 years ago

Butcher Jackson is a Student of Computer Science in West Tennessee's hub city. He has recently resigned from his job in order to finish his final semester of college.

Though his tastes in webcomics are not as refined as Akhenaten's (or anyone's, for that matter) The Butcher does have a few good picks.

  • The DM of the Rings is a hilarious look at why Tolkien's fantasy masterpiece would make a horrible d&d campaign. The PCs out-of-character banter is both accurate and tear-jerkingly funny. For what is probably the funniest indictment of fantasy naming conventions ever written, jump straight to 'The Name Game' (don't forget to read the commentary, or you'll miss out on Dark Lord Walter vs. the Knights of Pittsburg). Shamus's blog entries on d&d and gaming in general are not to be missed either.

  • Girl Genius is Phil Foglio at his best. He's releasing the entire run online for free, so there's really no reason to miss this one.

And here's a few links that aren't sequential art related.

  • The Hypertext D20 SRD. If D&D is a religion, then the SRD is the Gospel. This site offers the entire System Reference Document, fully hyperlinked, with various extra Open Gaming License material thrown in (like half of Unearthed Arcana). It'll even roll monster attacks for you. One of the best references for developers ever, and good news indeed.

  • Dire Press has enough stuff to keep DMs in time-wasting random generation exercises for hours. The treasure generator alone (which has an option to replace a percentage of coin with trade goods) makes it worth the click. The random dungeons allow DMs to give the gift of endless wasted time to their players as well. Did I mention that there's a generator for entire star systems on the Tools page? Too bad my site isn't about Spelljammer.

  • D&D Minis Stat Cards Downloads are indispensable for DMs who like having access to hundreds of monsters and NPCs ready for play. And if you happen to have a PDF editor, you can create your own sheets of encounters ready to play. Even if you don't have the minis (which are awesome by themselves) the stat cards give you enough pre-made characters to run an entire campaign. And having the monsters summed up the size of a playing card means you'll spend about 90% less time flipping through the monster manual. Seriously.

  • D&D Adventure DM Resources is a sweet little linking page that I keep losing. Tons of useful links to DM Tools. Now that I found it I'm sharing it with you. Aren't I just great.
